Starting a BEST Hub Workshop
November 19-20, 2010Auburn University (AL)
In Conjunction with the South’s BEST Robotics Championship at Auburn University
(www.southsbest.org)
BEST Robotics licenses use of its annual competition to companies, colleges, universities, professional engineering societies, or groups of individuals interested in starting the competition in their community. Licensees pay $2000/year to BEST Robotics Inc.
Each BEST hub (local competition site) is self-sufficient—organizers must raise their own funds and provide the manpower and other resources to run the competition. Sustainability is the single, most determining factor in whether a potential new hub is awarded hub status, which is determined by our Board of Directors. Sustainability means the ability to financially and physically manage and maintain an on-going annual program.
Workshop Information
- The workshop is mandatory for any group wanting to start a hub.
- It is a two-day program that provides detailed information on how to start, staff, and manage a hub.
- The cost is $50 per person and includes materials, snacks, lunch on Friday and Saturday; it does not include travel, lodging, and other meals.
- Due the volume of information presented, BEST recommends that a minimum of two people attend from each potential new hub.
For more information about starting a BEST hub or to register for the workshop, contact Dr. George Blanks, Executive Director of BEST and Director of K-12 Engineering Outreach in the Ginn College of Engineering at Auburn University:
